25th Annual Smoky Mountain Ultimate Tournament

S.M.U.T.

The Smoky Mountain Ultimate Tournament (S.M.U.T.) is traditionally held 4th of July weekend.  2008 is no exception!

• When: July 5-6
• Where: Victor Ashe Park (Knoxville, TN).  Back up fields Forks of the River (directions TBA).
• Teams: 16 co-ed
• Format: 4/3, 3/4
• Bid Cost: $225
• Bid Deadline: June 29

Requests for bids will be honored until the bid deadline (June 29), at which point we will be counting heads with money - first 16 checks after that point.  So, get your check in soon!

If you haven't  come to SMUT before, well, it's a good time - good ultimate, sweet fields, nice facilities, disc golf beside the fields (did I hear bye round?), and a fun city in which to hang out.  If you have been, we expect you'll be back!

Party will be at World Grotto, in Market Square in downtown Knoxville.
We will have bracelets for each team to distribute. We have kegs arranged, and there will be reggae bands there.

To fields (VAP) from the east:
    I-40 W through downtown, to I-640 E / I-75 N (this is the 2nd time you see 640).  Exit 1 Western Ave westbound, take 2nd ramp (cloverleaf). Right at Wendy's, bear left onto Ball Camp Pike, go ~1/2 mi to right on Bradshaw Rd.  Park entrance ~1/4 mi on left.

To fields (VAP) from the north:
    I-75 S to I-640 W / I-75 S (toward Nashville).  Exit 1 Western Ave westbound.  Right off ramp, right at Wendy's, bear left onto Ball Camp Pike, go ~1/2 mi to right on Bradshaw Rd.  Park entrance ~1/4 mi on left.

To fields (VAP) from south or west:
    I-40 E to I-640 E / I-75 N.�Exit 1 Western Ave westbound, take 2nd ramp (cloverleaf). Right at Wendy's, bear left onto Ball Camp Pike, go ~1/2 mi to right on Bradshaw Rd.  Park entrance ~1/4 mi on left.

To hotel from fields:  �
    Right out of park onto Bradshaw, left at stopsign on Ball Camp Pike.  Left at light onto Western Ave.  Take I-640 E / I-75 N.  Follow several miles to I-75 N.  Exit 110 Merchants Drive, right off ramp, left on Central Ave Pike, hotel in sight.

To party from hotel:
    I-75 S to I-275 S.  where this ends, take the Western Ave exit (not I-40 E or I-40 W, might be labelled "Downtown" or Henley initially)  Where ramp splits, go toward Western, not Henley St).  Turn left at light onto Western Ave.  Cross Henley St at light.  Turn right b/f next light beside Fire Station.  Take 2nd left, go one block, turn left.  Market Square parking garage on right.

To party from I-40 E (west Knox):
    Take Downtown/Henley St. exit off interstate.  Bear right at split in ramp to reach Western Ave. Turn left at light onto Western Ave.  Cross Henley St at light.  Turn right b/f next light beside Fire Station.  Take 2nd left, go one block, turn left.  Market Square parking garage on right.

To party from I-40 W (east of Knoxville):
    Take Hall of Fame exit off I-40.  Turn left (south) off ramp & follow to Summit Hill Dr.  Turn left at 3rd light onto Gay St.  Right at first street.  Pass Market Square on your left and turn left into Market Square Parking Garage.

PARTY FROM PARKING GARAGE:
    You either drove into the lot from the north or west.  Walk out the north end (by the stairwell).  Turn right to reach Market Square.  World Grotto will be diagonally across the square from where you enter.
